The Man's Shop has stood on the same corner of downtown Arlington for more than five decades. Wally Hardin started here in 1972 and bought the shop in 2000, and in that time this has become the place where three generations of Arlington men have bought their first interview suit, their wedding tuxedo, and the sport coat they still reach for twenty years later.
We are an independent, family-run menswear store — not a chain, not a rental counter. Esquire magazine named us one of America's top men's shops two years running. What that recognition really reflects is simple: we would rather know you than sell to you.

What We Do
We build wardrobes two ways. Off the rack, we carry menswear chosen by people who travel to find it: Samuelsohn tailored clothing, Zanella trousers from Italy, Gardeur from Germany, Ben Sherman from London, AG and 34 Heritage denim, Alan Payne footwear, and a rotating selection of knitwear, outerwear, and accessories.
Made to measure, we build the garment around you. Custom suits, tuxedos and black-tie formalwear, sport coats, and dress shirts, cut to your measurements in the fabric and detail you choose. We also run a made-to-measure program for women, because the request came often enough that it would have been strange not to.
Enrique, our master tailor, works in house. That matters more than it sounds. It means alterations happen here rather than being shipped out, it means a fitting problem gets solved while you are standing in it, and it means we will happily tailor a garment you bought somewhere else.
Beyond the clothes, we do wardrobe consultations and closet reviews, outfit wedding parties and groomsmen, build professional wardrobes for executives and companies, and take virtual appointments by video call when getting downtown is difficult.
How an Appointment Works
Most people start with a conversation. You tell us the occasion, the budget, and what has never quite fit right before. We measure, pull fabrics, and talk through construction, lapels, and how you actually plan to wear the thing. Custom garments generally take several weeks from first fitting to finished piece, so for a wedding or a specific event, earlier is better.
Patrick Milligan and Austin Roberson both take appointments directly, and walk-ins are always welcome during store hours.

We are at 100 S. West Street in downtown Arlington, Texas 76010, a few blocks from the University of Texas at Arlington campus, with parking available. We are open Monday through Saturday, 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and closed Sunday. You can reach us at (817) 265-1116.
Customers come to us from across the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex — Arlington, Fort Worth, Dallas, Mansfield, and Southlake — and many have been making the drive for decades.
Do I need an appointment?
No. Walk-ins are welcome during store hours. That said, if you want dedicated time for a custom fitting or a full wardrobe consultation, booking ahead with Patrick or Austin means the floor is yours.
How long does a custom suit take?
Plan on several weeks from the first fitting to the finished garment. For a wedding or a specific event, start earlier than you think you need to — it leaves room for a second fitting without any rush.
Do you tailor clothes I did not buy here?
Yes. Our master tailor works in house and regularly alters garments bought elsewhere. Bring it in and we will tell you honestly whether it is worth altering.
Do you rent tuxedos?
We do not rent. We sell and custom-make formalwear, including tuxedos and dinner jackets. For men who attend more than one black-tie event a year, owning usually costs less over time than repeat rentals, and it fits properly.
Do you carry women's clothing?
We offer a made-to-measure program for women, covering suits, blazers, and trousers.
What does it cost?
It depends on fabric and construction, and we will always tell you the number before anything is ordered. We carry a genuine range, and there is no pressure to buy at the top of it.
