BACK TO SCHOOL BASICS

The seasons are changing. But for Men, “Back to School” this year means the song basically remains the same. Still In: Designer sneakers, jeans, baggy pants, T-shirts, tank tops and flip-flops are still standard fashion fare. Sports jerseys are also essential standards to every wardrobe. New for Fall: Styles from the '50s, '60s and '70s, like cardigan sweaters and tweed jackets.

Below is a list of the season’s “must-have” basics:

Polo shirts
In striped rugby or bright solids, the preppy look is in.

Track jackets
The hippest athletic look of the season is especially fresh decorated with European logos.

Purple
From velvet blazers to shirts, royal purple is the latest twist on basic black.

Western wear
Thanks to "Dukes of Hazard," big belt buckles, distressed denim and paisley shirts are in.

Layering
Graphic tees over striped button-ups, blazers over hooded sweatshirts or polo’s, its all about mixing and matching.

But “Back-to-School” is about much more than just fall fashion. Dorm essentials, school supplies, and technology are also major parts of the back-to-school shopping experience. Digital cameras, MP3 players and portable video-gaming systems are all the rage for that down time in between studies. Also, the digital camera is a fall favorite for a field trip accessory, a class project aid and a memory-maker all in one.

Below are some of the season’s “must-have” gadgets:

MP3 Players
There are plenty of MP3 players to choose from but the biggest-selling -- and arguably most stylish -- remains the Apple iPod.

Mobile Phone
For many people, a mobile phone is essential for staying in touch with friends on campus or calling home without paying long-distance charges.

Laptop
While it’s not essential, owning one means no more waiting in line at the computer lab. Stylish, and versatile.

Digital Camera
Record all your college memories with a digital camera.

Game Consoles
Nintendo, XBox and PlayStation will all have new versions out soon but not in for fall. Great for wasting time in-between classes and relieving the stresses of college.
